Like any job, becoming a security guard or bodyguard requires its own set of skills. For both of these, having some training in martial arts/combat is always a benefit, and if you’ve already demonstrated a high level of aptitude in them, then you will certainly receive a boost when looking for a job in the security sector. This is only a small part of the job, and there is training you can undertake for other areas as well. You can, for instance, look into acquiring greater driving skills. This is essential for personal security, who will often fulfil jobs where at least part of it involves driving their clients around. Driving skills can be enhanced through a variety of training schemes, like evasive driving training, or with pursuit and containment driving training (which is what the police learn).
There are lots of skills which can help you to perform better in a security job, many of which are fun to learn, and will have applications outside of your professional life as well. Learning them, whether you’re looking for a job in the security sector or not, can also help to improve your own personal security as well.
