Sharing maritime security data

Maritime security is effective understanding of all activities carried out at sea that could impact the security, safety, economy or environment of the E U and its Members.

There is much information that is collected by several different security departs such as boarder control, fisheries control and customs. Often these departments do not share data between each other or if they do it is not done as quickly and accurately as it should be.

If data was shared then it would save time and money as departments would be able to check a central database rather than having to try and gather the information themselves. It would not only save time and money but would increase security.

Sharing data has to be done very securely and this is often what stops these systems being created. People worry about information being hacked and with handling sensitive data such as EU security, a compromise of data could be catastrophic.
